The term COMMUNITY PROJECTS is our way to say workshops. We use this term because we believe that workshops involves collaboration and communication between facilitator, participants and program coordinator.
All workshops are participatory activities that encourages self-expression through art and community engagement. We use textiles and clothes to explore topics surrounding personal narrative, identity, memory and representation. The end goal of each activity is to teach the importance of embracing difference and celebrating uniqueness. We want each participant to walk away with the knowledge that diverse stories are what truly make-up a community and that each story has the right to be heard.
Each workshop focuses on the following learning styles:
Visual – learning through witnessing
Auditory- learning through active listening
Tactile – learning to engaging, moving and altering objects
